TBase: Sterilization Quality Assurance
![]() agents (e.g. fungi, bacteria, viruses, spore forms, etc.) from a surface, equipment,
article of food or medication. Sterilization can be achieved through application of
heat, chemicals, irradiation, high pressure or filtration.
TBase is a system for heat penetration and distribution analysis of steam based
sterilization in the food industry. It was exclusively designed for Mars GmbH in
Verden, Germany. TBase processes DT4 files acquired by the TrackSense® Pro data acquisition system
from Ellab, Denmark. TBase uses XML for the exchange of data with the corporate Oracle database.
TBase is available as a stand-alone version (VersaCalc) and as a web application (TBaseCalc). Both
versions feature highly interactive diagrams for data analysis (see screens below). The web application
is used for the collection of sterilization profiles from Mars plants all over the world, making it a true global
quality control system. Core analysis functionality (XML conversion, XML exchange, image generation)
of TBaseCalc is exposed as a web service (TBaseWeb) on the Mars intranet.
